Missy Elliott and Keri Hilson Refute Lesbian Rumour

Songstresses Missy Elliott and Keri Hilson have harnessed the power of social media to dismiss speculation they were once involved in a romantic relationship.

An article published on gossip site MediaTakeout sparked the rumour, purporting Elliott seduced a young Hilson into a whirlwind romance; “According to a very WELL REGARDED record industry insider from Atlanta the two met when Keri was a young songwriter and Missy was an international superstar. The insider explained, ‘Missy is a larger than life personality. She’s like a dude. I’ve seen her turn out straight girls.’ And a young Keri was NO MATCH for Missy’s pimp game.”

Hilson was first to refute the rumour and blast the article with a message posted from her Twitter account [@MissKeriBaby]; “Lies!! How do those ppl sleep at night? I love & respect Missy & her work, but we’ve never worked & I’ve prolly seen her 5 times in my life!” Continue reading »

Video: Mike Tyson Offers Angry Birds Addiction Cure

Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson flexes his philanthropic muscle in a new viral video aimed at tackling addiction… to popular mobile game Angry Birds. 

“Is your addiction to Angry Birds ruining your life? Would you like to stop playing but can’t tear yourself away?,” asks a concerned Tyson before announcing his revolutionary Mike Tyson’s 1-Step Angry Birds Addiction Cure.

The hilarious skit is viral promotion for the 44 year-old’s upcoming television show Taking on Tyson – which explores Iron Mike’s long-time passion for pigeon racing. It is reported that Tyson owns upwards of 1,700 pigeons housed in lofts in New Jersey and Brooklyn. “I never hurt anybody until somebody hurt one of my birds,” Tyson told the NY Post in a recent interview.

Diddy on track to become Hip-Hop’s First Billionaire

Forbes Magazine has pegged Sean “Diddy” Combs as the first Hip-Hop entrepreneur likely to earn the illustrious title of billionaire. The magazine recently published their Hip-Hop Cash Kings list with Diddy placing first with an estimated net worth of $475 million - snatching the title from Jay-Z and his $450 million dynasty.

Traditionally generating the bulk of his fortune via interests in fashion [Sean John Clothing] and music [Bad Boy Entertainment], it is Diddy’s partnership with alcohol conglomerate Diageo that is swiftly propelling him towards billionaire status. The New York native joined forces with Diageo in 2007 to promote their Ciroc vodka brand in exchange for a share of the profits should Ciroc ever be sold-off. ?uestlove of the legendary Roots crew dropped by Mercer 21 last week for the official launch of the ?uestlove Dunk – a series of Nike Dunks exclusively designed by the Philadelphia drummer.  “Dunks to me are the tuxedo of Nikes. Obviously an awesome basketball sneaker, but they can also fit almost any situation. If rocked right, you could even wear them with a suit, and the all black version is perfect for that,” shared ?uestlove.

In addition to an all black colourway, the limited edition ?uestlove Dunk has also been released in more confronting shades of yellow and red. “I always opt against taking the easy way out. I wanted to choose colors that were extremely hard to match with outfits with a simpler design that stand out as the topic of conversation.”

Daft Punk x Coca-Cola = Club Coke 2011

French electronic music pioneers Daft Punk are the latest artists to partner with Coca-Cola for their annual Club Coke campaign. The soft drink behemoth will release two limited edition Coke bottles this month – one coloured gold, the other silver – inspired by the iconic helmets sported by the DJ duo.

The Club Coke 2011 bottles are expected for limited release in nightspots throughout France, and possibly other European territories, while it is reported online French retailer collete will sell a collector’s package containing both bottles [pictured above]. Continue reading »

Eminem Becomes Most ‘Liked’ Living Artist on Facebook

It is proving a big week for Eminem in the digital world. Yesterday we reported the Detroit rapper had surpassed the one-billion-views milestone on YouTube. Today, the Shady one eclipses Lady GaGa as the most ‘Liked’ living artist on Facebook.

Eminem’s official Facebook fan page is averaging over half-a-million ‘Likes’ per day, currently totalling 28,926,334 as compared to GaGa’s 28,897,205 ‘Likes’. Continue reading »

Eminem Hits One Billion YouTube Views

Eminem yesterday joined Lady GaGa and Justin Beiber as the only recording artists to accumulate over one billion YouTube views. GaGa was first to reach the milestone back in October 2010, closely followed by Beiber two weeks later, while Michael Jackson trails the trio with just over 630 million views.

Check out YouTube’s 10 most-viewed Eminem videos below, beginning with a clip watched over 293 million times. Only views generated via the official Eminem/Vevo YouTube channel were tallied. Continue reading »

Lil’ Wayne Crumbles Oreo’s World Record

This past Wednesday, Lil Wayne broke the Guinness World Record for the most ‘Likes’ on a single Facebook post within a 24-hour period – controversially eclipsing the record set by biscuit brand Oreo only 5-hours earlier.

Oreo Cookies announced their intended world record attempt this past Tuesday with a call-to-action posted on their Facebook wall: “‘Like’ this post to join Oreo fans around the world in setting a Guinness World Record for most “Likes” to a post in 24 hours.
