Shady Records Poised for a Busy 2011
Eminem’s Shady Records has sat rather dormant in recent years with the exception of his own Relapse and Recovery releases. But all that is set to change in 2011 with the acquisition of underground super-group Slaughterhouse and fellow Caucasian rapper Yelawolf.
Yelawolf is anticipating a summer [US] release for his Shady debut Radioactive, according to Billboard Magazine, which is awaiting the Midas touch of Eminem to complete the project. “I saw Em at the party for his [Lipton] Brisk Super Bowl commercial. I was sitting with him and was like, ‘Hey man, I did an album.’ ‘You did an album? I want to hear it.’ The next day we got up in the studio and he was hyped, man. But of course we’re going to get back in the studio and he’s gonna produce some stuff, touch some stuff up.”
The four-man Slaughterhouse crew - consisting of Joe Budden, Crooked I, Royce da 5’9″ and Joell Ortiz – have confirmed their Shady debut is also in the works and currently sits “about six songs” deep. “We were out in L.A. for the Grammys and did three or four sessions. Eventually we’ll get together in a central location and just vibe together with [Eminem] in the studio. It’s not as hard as you think it would be; everybody is pretty busy but the guys in the group are real good about putting stuff to the side and making the group first. We all can agree this is the most important thing in our careers.”
According to Billboard, it is anticipated that 2011 may also see three additional releases from the Shady roster courtesy of 50 Cent, Cashis and D-12.
